I’m voting Hush for the next Nolan/Batman film.

(This is a response to John Bierly’s Bat-School casting post, by the way.)

Hush is a seriously fucked up character, and I’d absolutely love to see Nolan’s take on him. He’s totally doable, too. Physically, he’s just a built guy with guns (and speaking of guns, you could really explore the whole guns = anti-Batman theme); mentally, he’s as cunning and brilliant as Bruce Wayne/Batman. So you get some action/ass-kicking AND you get the tactical brilliance you’d see with someone like the Riddler (they’re not going to do him: David Goyer, at least, wants someone completely fresh). His backstory wouldn’t be that much of a stretch to pull off, either—especially considering how Bruce knew Rachel Dawes.

The only problem would be how they would work him into the story, but hey, I’m sure they’d think of something awesome. In Batman: Hush, there were a LOT of established characters, which made Hush extremely interesting and enigmatic when it came to how he manipulated Bats. But if you consider the magic Paul Dini is working on this character right now in Detective Comic’s “Heart of Hush,” Hush could be really flexible in a film.

He’s one of my all-time favorite comic book characters (not to mention villains).

Who would be my pick actor-wise? How freaking cool would Ewan McGregor be? :D

Hell. Yes.

  1. Yes, yes, yes to Mr. E-McGreg as Hush.

    Yes.

    Brilliant. As usual. :)

And if you love Batman, listen to WITA’s advice about Detective Comics. You have no idea what you’re missing!

  2. 2 Joey

Yes, Hush would be a great villian. I say they put him in the 4th movie if its made. Have Catwoman already third movie, two-face, riddler and you got the framework work for hush. Have Hush, Posion Ivy and all above characters in the 4th movie and your all set.

Hopefully they end movie thought with Bruce finally getting Selina Kyle. It could work because its a movie and they can end it happy. Ewan as Hush would be cool.

  3. The problem with Bruce and Selina having a happy ending is that they’ve never been able to work: Selina is too morally ambiguous, which conflicts with his identity as Batman.
