If you haven’t checked out Batman Unmasked: The Psychology of the Dark Knight on the History Channel yet, definitely do so. It will be replaying on Monday, July 21 at 10:00 pm and Tuesday, July 22 at 2:00 am. Check your local listings for the right times though, of course.

A good friend of mine taped it for me, and it was really interesting. It’s an hour-long and a documentary-esque type feature that accurately analyzes the character and psychology (obviously) of Batman and Bruce Wayne—as well as his villains—through both comics and the two movies, showing clips from each. Plus, it makes parallels between the characters and actual historical individuals. Pretty awesome.

UPDATE: By the way, the History Channel will also be showing Batman Tech—a close look at Batman’s gadgets and Batcave technology—again on July 21 at 9:00 pm and July 22 at 2:00 am (double check your local listings). I haven’t watched it, but I’m hoping my friend can tape it for me. I’m sure it’s good.

Online Ticketing Provider Also Reports More than 1,300 Sold Out Shows Nationwide for Upcoming Performances

LOS ANGELES (July 18, 2008 ) - Less than 24 hours after “The Dark Knight” opened to record-breaking crowds, MovieTickets.com reports that more than 1,300 performances nationwide are still sold out. This includes more than 220 in New York City and Los Angeles alone. All this, combined with a move into the MovieTickets.com Top 5 Pre-Sale List of All-Time, and sky-high approval ratings from MovieTickets.com users, combines to pack a powerful punch.

“We expect the bat signal to be on for quite some time,” said Joel Cohen, executive vice president and general manager, MovieTickets.com. “The fact that there are still more than 1,300 sold-out performances to come and we haven’t even reached the weekend yet is really quite staggering.”

MovieTickets.com conducted web-based exit interviews with more than 3000 moviegoers who saw “The Dark Knight” on opening night. Of those surveyed, an overwhelming 98 percent ranked the film “excellent” or “very good,” 1.5 percent ranked the film “good,” and 0.5 percent ranked it as “fair” or “poor.”

All right, I’m going to do a quick run-through of some Dark Knight news that has been sitting in my bookmarks for awhile now.

If you visit the Why So Serious? main page, a rather creepy recording mash-up will start to play immediately. The site also now has a listing of all the viral pages that the Joker vandalized, which led up to the Kicking and Screening page (thanks commenter BubbaShelby for the tip!). On the hit list is also Harvey Dent’s campaign page.

Even the main TDK website was “Jokerized.”

Via /Film, a new Nokia/The Dark Knight promotion lets you commit yourself or a friend to Arkham Asylum. It’s actually really freaky.

Superhero Hype! reports that changes are being discussed for Warner Brothers and DC Comics due to the recent success of Marvel movies. Yup, it’s definitely time for DC to improve their game (not counting Batman Begins or The Dark Knight here, guys).

Batman-On-Film.com has the Youtubed version of HBO’s TDK First Look, as well as a vid of Gary Oldman on The View and Christian Bale on The Today Show (7-14-08). Gary Oldman was on Late Night with Conan O’Brien Tuesday (7-15-08). Aaron Eckhart and Maggie Gyllenhaal were on The Today Show yesterday (7-16-08),

According to this email I received from MovieTickets.com, it looks like as of today the film has claimed spot number nine on MovieTickets.com’s best-selling pre-sale list of all time. Check it out.

As of 12 p.m. ET on Thursday, MovieTickets.com already has over 1,600 performances of ‘Dark Knight’ sold out in North America, including over 300 in LA and NY alone.

TOP-10 PRESELLERS

As of Thursday at 1 p.m. ET, “Dark Knight” is currently No. 9 on MovieTickets.com’s Top-10 Pre-Sale List of All-Time, which includes IMAX ticket sales. It’s currently ahead of two Spider-Man blockbusters (”Spider-Man 3″ and “Spider-Man 2″), three Harry Potter films (”Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets,” “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban,” “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone”) and “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End.”

TICKET SALES

“Dark Knight” accounted for 88 percent of tickets sold on MovieTickets.com on Wednesday. As of 12 p.m. ET, it has accounted for 87 percent of all tickets sold today.
