Mmm, Blue Sun cola and fruity oaty bars (Miranda) …

WOW, thanks so much for the amazing and quick response since my post the other day (special thanks to the super cool Rian Fike)! Seeing five votes/comments awaiting moderation definitely made my day! Some of you even gave suggestions for what you’d like to see in the winning banner. I’ve already made banners for each choice, which was why I was really excited to see how the poll would turn out and what comic would take the win; even though the poll isn’t officially over yet (not until midnight on the 31st of March), X-men is definitely in the lead (only one vote for Superman so far—much, I imagine, to commenter Sue‘s disappointment—and, Sue, I think the Superman banner I made is one of the coolest of the four). If I have time, though (and with college right now I’m seriously lacking) I’ll try to incorporate some of your suggestions into the banners before the end of March. I should have some free time Friday, so there’s a good chance I’ll be able to make some changes before then. =] Keep on voting!

Man, I love the Vlogbrothers Hank and John Green, creators of Brotherhood 2.0, the Youtube phenomenon. Personally, I don’t really like poetry—I’m actually more of a prose person myself—so if it wasn’t for my mundane poetry class I wouldn’t get this joke:

William Carlos Williams’s poem, “This Is Just to Say,” goes like this:

I have eaten
the plums
that were in
the icebox

and which
you were probably
for breakfast.

Forgive me
they were delicious
so sweet
and so cold.

… Yeah. At any rate, that has to be one of the nerdiest and most hilarious LOL blurbs I’ve seen. There’s no cat, of course, but that somehow makes it even more amusing. The whole Vlogbrothers video can be viewed here. As for the joke about the poem, I think this pretty much clears it up.

“Definitely the worst poem ever. This, however, is a classic.”

Just don’t ask me why Milhouse would even be asking about a Williams poem, not to mention why he would be asking Comic Book Guy.

Moving on to a total fit of geeky goodness, ThinkGeek is one of my favorite (online) stores. They have cool t-shirts, which makes me happy, and other stuff that centers around gaming, coding, tv shows, science, Japan, and more generically geeky things. Here are some of my latest favorites that I’m itching to get my hands on.

That (left) has to be one of the greatest “I’d Hit That” based t-shirts. I absolutely love it, and it just screams eight-bit nostalgia.

W00t, I just saw this awesome Serenity t-shirt today (available in babydoll, too, if you can sport it), featured right. ThinkGeek just added three Firefly/Serenity t-shirts, including this Serenity Browncoats one and this one of Jayne, the Hero of Canton, Kicker of Asses. The Jayne t-shirt is only available as a babydoll tee, though, and I hate those. Anyway, if you don’t know what Firefly or Serenity is, well … you’re missing out. Firefly was a sci-fi tv show created by Joss Whedon, the guy behind Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, that fucking rocked. Serenity is the movie-version that came out after the show was canceled due to Fox’s stupidity (both because it was a great show and also because they moronically aired episodes out of order, so no one had any idea what the hell was going on). It sucks, too, because Firefly was amazing and not to mention hilarious. Stupid Fox—a lot of its shows make fun of it for a reason, and the network has a nasty habit of keeping crappy shows and canceling good, original ones.

Sigh … I miss Firefly.

Ah, super heroes. This is truly a good time to be alive with all the comic book movies (and apparently a spoof, although it probably won’t be that great—still, they get points with me for bashing Tom Cruise) that have been and continue to be released. So if you’re enjoying the times as much as I am, this shirt should be worn with pride.

And speaking of super heroes, Cyclops’s visor would go almost perfectly with that shirt. It’s shy of $80, though, which is the bad part. Still, I found it awesome. Even if Scott Summers is a wuss.

Also, according to Batman-On-Film, Hot Topic is apparently going to be getting some The Dark Knight t-shirts in soon. Sweeeeet.

  1. One thing is certain. You must show us all the banners, no matter which one wins.

    That is all.

  2. Haha, fair enough. =] Eventually I’ll feature them all; I will make sure to showcase them all for you.

  3. Yes, demand is high. Also the thinkgeek site is a good thing. I need about 40 thousand dollars to buy t-shirts now. I NEED the you’r dumb in binary shirt, although most people where I work wouldn’t ask.

  4. I love t-shirts; finding good ones like on the thinkgeek website is a definite must for me.

Heh, the great thing about thinkgeek’s shirts is that you get three types of reactions from people after they look at your shirt: a) they just look away, not getting it, b) they say something like, “I don’t get it,” or just get a confused expression on their face, or c) once in awhile they actually know what you’re shirt is about (or pretend to) and laugh or make an approving comment.

It’s fun indeed. has some awesome shirts, too.
