Crime doesn’t pay (unless you do it right)

… And the Joker does it right.

The Joker has taken over! Remember that countdown on the Why So Serious? page, “Overture”? Well, the bomb was ticking down to an explosion of Joker hackings on TDK viral sites. The Joker sends his warmest with the message he left on the “Overture” page: “Making my mark …”

Diehard viral followers (the marketing began May ’07) were rewarded when they received an email from humanresources@whysoserious.com linking them here—where they could grab a free ticket to see The Dark Knight on IMAX on Tuesday the 15th! Kick ass! You can read about it and see a sample ticket over at /Film. The showings are, obviously, all sold out now. Those lucky ducks …

And /Film also has some incredible news about TDK‘s IMAX showings. It’s crazy! And according to IESB.net, a fifteen-second teaser for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince will be shown before TDK on IMAX. Grraaahh, I SO need to see this on IMAX, too! The six sequences of the movie shot using IMAX cameras are supposed to be amazing …

Citizens for Batman and Gotham Cable News took hits, too. And speaking of GCN, there’s a new episode up on the website in which Mike Engel (Anthony Michael Hall) interviews Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart). Cool!

And Dent puts how people should “deal” with Batman so simply and elegantly: “You don’t just decide one day to go put on a disguise and go fight crime. A dysfunctional society dictates that response, so if you want to get rid of the Batman, then curing what created him is the best way.” Well said, Harvey.

Plus, there’s some really important breaking news near the end of the episode: about the bank robbery by six men in clown masks … ;D It’s all coming together now as The Dark Knight comes closer and closer to being released. Enter the Joker.

The next episode will feature Mayor Garcia (Nestor Carbonell).

So far I’ve noticed the Gotham Terror System, the Maiden Avenue Report, Clown Travel, Dana Worthless’s campaign page, the Gotham Unified School District, We Are the Answer, Gotham City Rail, the Gotham Election Bored, Roger Garsmelly’s campaign website, Betty’s House of Lies, Gotham City Pizzeria, the Gotham Police, and the Gotham Police Major Babies Unit.

And some of them have puzzle pieces:

Gotham Cable News – R

Gotham Ferry System AND Gotham Police – C

Kinsley Travel – G

We Are The Answer – Blank

Gotham City Rail – N

Trust Garcetti – E

Gotham Major Crimes Unit – S

Strangely enough, Harvey Dent’s campaign site hasn’t been touched … Weird.

I mean, I’m not making this stuff up, right? Is this supposed to spell something? I feel like I’m losing in a bad game of Scrabble.

If you know of any other TDK viral sites the Joker has vandalized (especially if they have puzzle pieces!), let me know!

I’ll keep you posted if I find out anything else.

  1. The puzzle pieces spell out “Kicking and Screaming” which led to whysoserious.com/kickingandscreaming – just another lead-in to those free IMAX tickets.

I was lucky enough to get San Francisco tickets – I’ll be seeing TDK on the 15th! Woohoooooo!

  2. LOL, ohhhh, okay. Well, that makes sense now. ;D Haha, thanks.

    Lucky duck! That’s awesome!
