Watchmen … considered yourselves, err, watched

More Watchmen movie news! In 2009, the world will watch the Watchmen. And there’s only two words I can say to that: hell yeah. has a great article about their set visit that’s worth checking out. And /Film has some good SDCC Watchmen panel info about a director’s cut version of the film—which is summing up to be around three hours. Of course, it might not end up that way in the theatrical release. (Hence the director’s cut possibility.) Anyway, the whole thing is still a bit uncertain right now.

Zack Snyder, the director, did say that the (awesome) trailer (in HD here) has bumped up sales of the original graphic novel on Amazon. Yup: fear the power of the trailer.

Superhero Hype! has Watchmen audio interviews with Zack Snyder (director); Dave Gibbons (Watchmen comic book artist); Patrick Wilson (Dan Dreiberg/Nite Owl II), Carla Gugino (Sally Jupiter/Silk Spectre), and Malin Akerman (Laurie Juspeczyk/Silk Spectre II); Jackie Earle Haley (Walter Kovacs/Rorschach) and Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Edward Blake/The Comedian); Billy Crudup (Jon Osterman/Dr. Manhattan) and Matthew Goode (Adrian Veidt/Ozymandias). I haven’t listened to them yet because audio interviews can be rather lengthy, heh. But there they are if you’re interested. Audio interviews, while often tediously long (although I’m not sure how long those are), can also be very in-depth and thus worth your while.

Once you’ve seen the teaser for Watchmen, I recommend watching this video [via /Film] below (there’s something similar here, but it’s not as in-depth). Yup, some clips are straight out of the panels in the graphic novel, while others are pretty damn close. And for those of you not familiar with the comic, the voice-over (by the character Rorschach) at the end in which he says, “The world will look up and shout, ‘Save us.’ And I’ll whisper, ‘No'” is from the graphic novel, too. There’s just no panel to put up against that shot in the teaser.

Vodpod videos no longer available.
